Vision and Mission


The Department of Library envisions to become a model library incorporating latest technology, adopting user friendly approach and providing comprehensive services related to dissemination of knowledge.

  • Developing, organizing, and maintaining a collection that attempts to meet the needs of users
  • Developing and strengthening working relationships with faculty, students and staff
  • Providing instruction that enables users to access and evaluate information resources
  • Developing opportunities for improving library environment and optimizing existing physical facilities for both users and staff
  • Encouraging and supporting professional growth, individual growth, and job satisfaction of our staff members
  • Developing life-long habit of leisure as well as information reading
  • Updating the library integrating with latest technology as and when required


The Sindhi College Library and Information Centre’s Quality Objectives are statements concerning that are important to us as an organization. They act as a guide for ensuring success in what we do.

Being one of the most important facilities in any educational institution, Library is center for knowledge acquisition and development. The students can profitably utilize the library during college hours and also in leisure hours. To enable the students do reference work, there are large number of reference books including newspaper, encyclopedia, dictionaries, books on general knowledge, journals and previous years question papers.

  • To ensure that all students registered at Sindhi college Library and Information Centre are aware of services offered by the Library
  • To provides current and relevant information to staff and students
  • To ensure that study materials and facilities are accessible to all library users
  • To keep library collection current with new material being evaluated and added on a continual basis
  • To establish and maintain a Library webpage, social websites and online resources
  • To make efforts to ensure that every student of the institution makes use of services offered by the Library
  • To provide special services to students belonging to disadvantaged sections of the society and students requiring special attention
  • To establish link with the libraries of reputated Institutions of national importance
  • To expand physical space of the Library to meet the growing demands of the users as and when required

Advisory Committee

Library Advisory Committee (LAC)

The function of the Library Advisory Committee is to support the functioning of the library so that it can facilitate the library development plans by advocating the library development activities with the management. The purpose of the Library Advisory Committee is to act as a channel of communication and dialogue between the University Library and its users. The Committee’s main objective is to aid in the establishment a bridge between the Library and the academic fraternity and the institute management. The Library Advisory Committee (LAC) is to be appointed by the Principal.

Composition :

The suggested composition of this Committee is as follows :

  • Chairperson: Institution Head is the chairperson (Principal)
  • Members: One faculty each from One Stream (Librarian to propose panel names)
  • Coordinator : Librarian Shall be the Secretary of LAC
  • All officers of the Library shall participate in the meeting to provide required inputs

Meeting Frequency :

The LAC would meet at least once in every semester to review the library affairs.

General Rules and Regulations.
S.No General Rules and regulation
1 All the students/scholars and outsiders entering the Library shall deposit their bags and other belongings at the entrance and sign in the Register at the checkpoint. Only notebooks and the Library books to be returned will be allowed inside. Do not to leave any valuables at the Check Point. Library is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings. All files, books and notebooks must be presented to the Library Staff at the checkpoint for inspection while leaving the Library. Library does not permit any exception in the observance of this rule.
2 Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
3 Books removed from the shelves by students, if not required for reference,should be kept on the table nearest to them. Please do not try to shelve them yourself. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost.
4 The newspaper(s) should be folded properly after reading and kept back in the designated place.
5 Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, she/he will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books Borrowed should be protected from RAIN, DUST, INSECT, etc.
6 All the students are advised to bring their own Library Cards while using the Library
7 There will be a fine of Rs. 1.00 per General Shelf book For the loss of Library Card / ID Card fine of Rs.250/- will be charged
8 Students are advised not to issue Books to others on their names
9 Conversation and discussion disturbs library ambience. Therefore, all are requested to maintain dignified silence. If discussion is necessary, the common room should be utilized for the same
10 All users are requested to keep their mobiles switched off or in silent mode in the Library
11 Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the library.
12 No visitor or guest is permitted to use the Library without the prior permission of the Librarian
13 No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Librarian.
14 Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time
15 All students are advised to come to the Library in decent dress as they are in the classrooms.
